Philly's Win Is MOVE's Loss

The founder of MOVE apparently was not a fan of Philadelphia sports. The Charles Manson of PA supposedly prophesied that no Philadelphia team would win a championship while the MOVE 9 remained in jail.

Unfortunately for the room temperature, guru of MOVE, yet another of his silly prognostication has been shown to be wrong and stupid for people to believe.

One has to wonder what kind of bizarre rationalizations that MOVE's leaders are going to use to explain away the fact that John Africa has been proven wrong again. One has to wonder just how many absurd revisions that the few remaining supporters of MOVE before will swallow before they gag on the lies and turn away from the world of deceit in which they inhabit.

More to the point, in Philadelphia's glory is the reminder that MOVE is and will always be little more than a grim footnote to the history of a city that always seem to rise above the low expectations people have for it.

Although I had to leave the Philadelphia area, there is much I miss about it. The food, the way the city itself seemed to have a pulse of it's own, and the toughness of it's people. It is truly unlike anywhere else I have been in the world.

Congratulations Philadelphia!

Wanted: A Book Deal

I think it well past time to take my efforts to the next step.

This blog has been an awesome vehicle for my ideas and it has allowed me to reach people who never would have heard my message.

Still, I think this whole thing has gone about as far as I can push it to go.

Of course, I will continue to do this blog, but I would also like to work on another project.

I want to write a book. But not really about Mumia, because Maureen Faulkner, Michael Smerconish, and John Hayden have that market covered.

Blogs, with their piecemeal set-up are not really designed for sustained reading and intensive study, whereas a book works well for both.

I know that I can barely string along a sentence, but with modern publishing tools at my side, I think I can produce a story that at least some people will want to read.

Supreme Court Rejects Jamal Appeal

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court has rejected an appeal for a new trial for death row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal, convicted in the 1981 killing of a Philadelphia police officer.

The justices did not comment on their action today, which leaves in place a federal appeals court ruling that upholds Abu-Jamal's murder conviction, but orders a new sentencing hearing.

Officer Daniel Faulkner was shot to death after pulling over Abu-Jamal's brother in an overnight traffic stop.

The case has drawn worldwide attention.

Prosecutors say Faulkner, 25, managed to shoot Abu-Jamal during the confrontation. A wounded Abu-Jamal, his own gun lying nearby, was still at the scene when police arrived, and authorities consider the evidence against him overwhelming.

Abu-Jamal, born Wesley Cook, has argued in numerous appeals that racism by the judge and prosecutors corrupted his 1982 conviction at the hands of a mostly white jury. Prosecutors, meanwhile, had appealed a federal judge's 2001 decision to grant Abu-Jamal a new sentencing hearing because of flawed jury instructions.

In an enormous display of poor taste and an obvious jab at the family and friends of Daniel Faulkner, the Sundance Channel will be airing the pro-Mumia film “In Prison My Whole Life” on December 8 of this year.

The film, financed by British actor Colin Firth, is grossly sympathetic to Faulkner’s murderer, Mumia Abu-Jamal. Stocked with the usual parade of celebrities and activists, the film is low on substance and high on hype.

Another film, this one by Philadelphia native, Tigre Hill, is still in production. Titled "The Barrel Of A Gun", it is a sweeping and ambitious project that has taken Hill around the world. Unlike all of the other films to take on the Jamal controversy, Hill’s may be the first to actually delve deep enough to get to the truth, that is if it to doesn’t fall into the abyss of celebrity worship.

It is reported that Hill has enlisted writer Gerald Posner to be a part of the production. Posner, an acclaimed investigative journalist has taken on the Kennedy Assassination, the Saudi connection with 9/11, and other controversial issues, will hopefully not shy away from the truth of the Jamal case.
